This was a fun album to make, and I'm very proud of it. There's a lot of nice playing going on, and we managed to take some standard pop songs and turn them into something that works as instrumentals. It's got a good feel, and I'm starting to sound like myself. Actually I had spent a couple of years doing other things before this CD, like producing, artist management, working with kids, and was a bit surprised when Rock Records asked me to sign on for a couple of new albums. They wanted me to help with opening up their Korea market, and instrumental music seemed like a good bet.
Six months of Korean lessons later, and a list of great tunes in hand, I set off to NY again to work with Mike Abene. This time we'd be able to do a whole project together. We decided to do it all live in the studio, with the best musicians available. We invited Diane Schuur in to sing on "My Love", and on "Evil Ways" I teamed up with the latin flautist Dave Valentin. The main track, I'm Happy, was written by Korea's most famous songwriter, Kim Hyun Chul, who showed me what was really happening in the Korean music scene, and gave me the worst 2-bottle Tequila hangover I've ever had.
I'll remember this as the standing sessions. I had to stand through all the mixes because somehow I managed to screw up my back while moving some equipment, and was in agony in any position other than standing straight up. It was either months of Western re-hab and insurance bills or some quick Chinese acupuncture and a bag of wild herbs.

I've never figured out whether it's pronounced "Moe's (like owned by one of three stooges) or Moss (like that guy out of Bonanza), but the one down the hill from me is open until 2am most days, which means that if I get out of the club early enough, I can catch the best burger in town, the muo si la bao or the Spicy Mos Burger. They have lots of jalapenos and
