This was an interesting gig. I was working out the July scheduling for the Living Room when I was trying to figure out how I could put something together with a Balinese dancer and some musicians. Then it occurred to me to call Mas. Mas and I had been talking about doing some experimental soundscape stuff for years, and we were both were always too busy to follow through. We wanted to combine expressionist guitars with looped feedback, various effects, and computers. And do it live. Sort of like what David Torn was doing with technology, but with a dancer as well. "You want to play a weird gig next week?" I asked him. "Um, yeah, sure..." he said. We talked geek talk over a dinner, had a practice, and this is what we came up with. Now that we've got the ball rolling, maybe we'll do a "weird gig" once a month to see where it leads.
